The Guthrie Clinic was chosen as one of three winners of the 2019 Zoomtopia Innovation Award, which recognizes Zoom customers that embody innovation, inspiration, and creativity in using Zoom solutions. For Americans who live in remote areas, everyday activities like going to the grocery store or shipping a package can be difficult and time-consuming. And unfortunately for many of them, accessing healthcare and medical services often means hours or days of travel, meaning that many of them cannot access doctors when they need them. Luckily, remote patients in upstate New York and North-Central Pennsylvania have the Guthrie Clinic, which uses Zoom’s video conferencing solution to get these patients the medical access they need. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cvgsPixSasA&feature=youtu.be

Guthrie is a nonprofit integrated health system serving patients across an extensively rural 12-county service area. With only 25 physicians serving this large area, Guthrie is able to leverage Zoom in collaboration with Epic’s electronic medical records (EMR) system to provide telehealth services to patients through direct Zoom-to-Zoom visits and the EpicCare Link platform. Since implementing Zoom Meetings in April 2019, Guthrie has scheduled over 375 virtual doctor’s visits involving 10 different specialties. The organization has also experienced a 350% increase in the number of physicians that have enrolled to deliver telehealth services. And as Guthrie continues to grow, it plans on implementing telepsychiatry services with Iris TeleHealth to give rural Americans access to the medical services they need, at their convenience.

The Zoomtopia Innovation Awards are a video submission contest aimed at highlighting your stories. We created this initiative as a way to show our gratitude for the amazing ways our customers are using Zoom. All Zoom users were invited to participate and share a 1-to-2-minute video submission explaining how they use Zoom solutions. A panel of Zoom judges reviewed each video submission and selected winners that embody innovation, inspiration, and creativity. Winners each received two complimentary tickets to Zoomtopia Oct. 15-16 in San Jose and were recognized on stage at the event. Other Zoomtopia Innovation Award category winners were CNCT Alumni Association for Social Impact, California State Parks (PORTS) for Environmental Impact, and Western Sydney University for its use of Zoom Rooms.
