As a developer platform provider, it’s our responsibility to not only provide robust tools and resources to help you build apps and services for your customers, but also help you go to market with those solutions. This includes helping to drive the discovery and distribution of your own amazing apps and integrations, and enhancing the overall developer experience.
Our App Marketplace team has been focused on a number of updates designed to help improve customer and end-user discovery and adoption of your apps and services, and we’re excited to share those with you here.
Our latest release includes some significant updates to app categorization on the App Marketplace. We have eliminated and updated existing categories to help drive discovery based on extensive research around key search terms used by customers. Now, developers have more categories to map their app to when submitting details in the app build flow. New customer-facing categories include broadcasting and streaming, business system integrators, eCommerce, health and wellness, human resources, note taking, presentations, social activities, virtual backgrounds and scenes, and workflow automation.
To help better surface your app, we’ve:
Developers can take advantage of these updates by logging in to App Marketplace and adjusting the categories and tags that are currently assigned to your app.
You’ll notice a new accordion-style navigation across the categories and filters. This navigation features new curated collections along with the new developer selected categories, and the product compatibility filters for Meetings, Webinars, Phone, Chat, and Rooms, user roles, industry vertical, and install permission. You’ll also see filtered results tags, allowing customers to further adjust and sort through our extensive app inventory.
We’ve also implemented a new design so that an app’s short description and compatible Zoom products will be shown on app listing cards, allowing Zoom users to easily see important app information without having to take additional steps.
As a reminder, we recently announced the ability for Meeting SDK apps that have updated to Native v5.9.0 and Web v2.3.0 to be listed on the App Marketplace, which includes OAuth 2.0 and Active App Notifier. If you’re a developer using the Zoom Meeting SDK, we recommend that you update to the latest version to optimize your potential for customer discovery.
