Miracle Messages

Miracle Messages is an award-winning nonprofit headquartered in California that rebuilds social support systems and financial security for unhoused neighbors through family reunifications, a phone-based, volunteer-driven buddy system, and monthly direct cash transfers.

Miracle Messages' reunion service allows a person isolated by homelessness to both record and receive short messages with loved ones. Then, the Miracle Messages volunteer network will attempt to locate the loved one and deliver the message. The organization also operates the Miracle Friends program, which matches unhoused neighbors with caring volunteers for weekly calls and texts to provide general wellness check-ins and problem-solving support. The third pillar of the program is Miracle Money, a monthly direct cash transfer program for people experiencing homelessness.

Through support and technology from Zoom Cares, Miracle Messages was able to reach new volunteers and partners. As a result, Miracle Messages was able to connect with volunteers from all over the world on a weekly basis and with important partners monthly. With most of the organization’s work being conducted remotely, having a reliable and easily accessible platform to connect has been essential for the team’s success. Weekly training sessions have remained remote through the Zoom platform, which allows participants to join from anywhere in the world.
