Overview
With the widespread use to mobile devices and mobile applications, the Industrial Development Bureau of the Ministry of Economic Affairs formulated cybersecurity testing standards and encouraged providers to conduct independent verification. The "Basic Cybersecurity Specifications for Mobile Applications" was promulgated as the foundation for promoting a cybersecurity testing mechanism for mobile applications. To implement this foundation, the Industrial Development Bureau of the Ministry of Economic Affairs (which was taken over by the Digital Industry Administration of the Ministry of Digital Development in 2022) appointed the Mobile Application Security Alliance (MASA) as the verification agency, responsible for implementing the security certification mechanisms and promoting its implementation.
