Flying Hope is a nonprofit German pilot network that arranges free flights for seriously ill or disabled children to access the best possible care in Germany. The pilots in the program donate their time and their planes.

 

The program, founded in 2010, uses Zoom to connect Flying Hope team members as well as families to quickly coordinate flight logistics and help the patients prepare for their journeys. The pilots also use Zoom to connect with families over video to help build rapport and trust before their flights.

 

Today, Flying Hope has around 200 members and over 30 active volunteer pilots who give their time and machines to help families by flying children to hospices, hospitals, or vacations all over Germany every week. The organization has organized more than 550 flights to help families with sick or disabled children get the care and support that they need.
