TOX PRESSOTECHNIK, a global leader in industrial joining technology, faced a significant challenge: the multitude of different telecommunication systems at its locations worldwide. With more than 1,500 employees in 40 countries, it was clear that a powerful, unified, and modern communications solution was needed to improve collaboration and increase efficiency.
The challenge: 12 different communication systems worldwide
Due to TOX PRESSOTECHNIK’s rapid growth, various approaches emerged. “We had 12 different telecommunications and communication solutions worldwide,” reports Ruven Hildebrand, head of IT at TOX. The locations often used classic, outdated telephone systems, which different providers also operated. This led to considerable administrative effort, as each location had its own local administration. Over time, modern communication methods such as video conferencing and software telephony were added, further increasing complexity. The goal was clear: a unified communications (UC) solution for the entire company. The new solution should be flexible, simple, and work on every device — whether smartphone, laptop, PC, or DECT device in production.
The solution: Zoom Workplace
After comparing UC solutions available on the market, TOX PRESSOTECHNIK chose Zoom Workplace for its cloud-based, scalable, intuitive platform that combines telephony, video conferencing, email, and instant messaging.
Zoom Phone, Zoom’s cloud-based telephone system, replaced multiple outdated systems and enabled flexible deployment of phone numbers worldwide. By integrating into existing applications like Salesforce, customer communications significantly improved. Employees can call directly from the Salesforce app, leave conversation notes, and centrally document essential information.
Another advantage of Zoom Phone was the ease of implementation. “We rolled out locations remotely, without being on-site. The installation on the computers and the assignment of phone numbers was straightforward,” says Ruven Hildebrand. The solution also proved effective in production. The DECT phones, which are important for communication in production, work reliably with Zoom Phone. In addition, employees can communicate and collaborate in real-time via Zoom Whiteboard
The added value: increased efficiency and global collaboration
With unified communications across its global workforce, TOX employees appreciate easy accessibility to their colleagues, shortened coordination paths, and improved meeting planning. Collaborating between locations, especially across national borders, was also significantly simpler than before.
Another significant advantage: The virtualization of PBX systems led to substantial cost savings. With Zoom Phone, the investment in new telephone systems became unnecessary, and TOX now benefits from identical cost structures in all countries. “We only need one license for each employee, and all functions are included in this subscription,” explains Ruven Hildebrand.
Future plans: expansion of Zoom infrastructure
TOX PRESSOTECHNIK is already planning the next steps. Several additional locations in Brazil, India, and China will soon switch to Zoom Phone. The goal is for every employee worldwide to communicate with a unified solution.
Additionally, the company wants to set up Zoom Rooms at each location to promote hybrid collaboration further. Several Zoom Rooms have been configured and successfully tested in Weingarten.
By choosing Zoom’s modern and flexible communications platform, TOX increased efficiency and improved global collaboration. With Zoom as a reliable partner, TOX is ready for the future.
