If there's one message we aimed to convey at Zoomtopia 2025, it's that Zoom is for the people. More than just a tagline, For the People represents our commitment to connecting people to progress, regardless of whether you’re a solopreneur, small business, or part of a global enterprise.

Good news! Solopreneurs and scrappy startups can relax a little when it comes to competing with larger, more established companies. That’s because AI is giving small and midsize businesses (SMBs) the opportunity to serve more customers, ramp up their marketing, and scale like never before.
Now, more than ever, individuals and small businesses have the tools to compete and thrive. … Adoption of productivity tools and AI is accelerating the democratization [of entrepreneurship]. We’re starting to see real value creation from AI, for businesses of all sizes, but especially among SMBs.
Today’s SMBs are using AI as a thought partner, an extra set of hands, and a driver toward life-changing innovation. And that translates to real ROI. Hayden Brown, CEO of Upwork, shared during her keynote that AI has had a net-positive impact on revenue for 93% of small businesses surveyed. Another 82% of SMBs surveyed said that using AI has reduced costs.
In the spirit of celebrating all the doers and dreamers out there, Zoom Chief Marketing Officer Kim Storin announced the Zoom Solopreneur 50, a new initiative aimed at celebrating high-growth, AI- and innovation-powered businesses driven by solo founders. We believe that in the next few years, we’ll see the first solopreneur unicorn company, and the Zoom Solopreneur 50 aims to recognize promising companies you’ll want to keep an eye on.
For education leaders, keeping teachers, students, faculty, staff, and parents connected is no easy feat, especially in remote, impoverished communities where technology is not always prevalent. Zoom Chief Operating Officer Aparna Bawa, Khan Academy and Schoolhouse.world founder Sal Khan, and Chris Paul of the L.A. Clippers sat down in an engaging fireside chat to discuss the role technology plays in developing and inspiring young minds.
Learning is something that everyone is entitled to, but unfortunately, it’s not always economically viable. Everyone should have access to the best minds, the best courses, and the best curriculum.
Chris echoed this sentiment, believing that “technology and innovation in education are starting to level the playing field. Students and young athletes have the potential to bring so much to the table. We just need to help and make room.”
To help cultivate the next generation of innovators, Kim Storin announced the launch of a $10 million, three-year commitment to AI education grants that will give students, educators, and nonprofits the support they need to thrive in a world being transformed by AI. The first two Zoom AI education grant recipients are Code.org and Data.org. We can’t wait to see who’s next.
From neighborhood book clubs to large-scale hybrid events, building human connections in a virtual environment is just as important today as it was five years ago. With experiential marketing on the rise, audiences have higher expectations when it comes to virtual events. And with the right approach, it's possible to create a memorable, engaging experience for a remote audience.
Zoom Events’ built-in features like polls, reactions, and chats are more than engagement tools — they are the mechanisms that turn a passive audience into active participants. For Zayo Group's Vice President of Marketing, Dee Hall, these tools are critical to build a virtual community.
Make sure you’re engaging the participants and using their feedback so that they feel like they are part of the story that’s being developed and not just spectators.
What’s more, Latane Conant, chief revenue officer at 6sense, believes that understanding your audience and their needs will create a more relaxed and organic vibe, which can lead to more engaging conversations.
“We create an environment where participants can join the conversation from their Peloton or while walking their dog. We encourage you to ‘show up as you are’ to help make the conversations more organic and ultimately easier to relax and connect," she said.

Customer service is not about choosing between people and technology; it’s about combining the best of both. When customers expect every interaction to feel seamless yet personal, agents need the right tools at their fingertips. This begs the question of how to combine AI efficiency with human empathy.
Thankfully, AI doesn’t have to replace the human touch. Its real power is in augmenting agents' roles by surfacing context, reducing friction, and freeing them to focus on what matters most—supporting customers when issues arise. Organizations that embrace this ‘AI-plus-human’ model are redefining effortless customer experiences.
Get started soon. AI is one of the fastest-adopted technologies in the CX space and can immediately impact both customer and agent experiences while improving operational efficiencies.
While it’s easy to think of technology as the differentiator, it’s really just a tool. At the end of the day, technology helps customers do what they care about most: connect with the brands they do business with.
“We’re not just using Zoom’s AI to create bots—we’re using it to elevate human-to-human experiences at scale. We collect key details and context before a live hand-off, so the customer moves seamlessly from bot to person,” Jake said.
