Privacy Statement - Zoom Solopreneur 50 (ZSP50) Recognition Program
- Introduction
This Privacy Statement is intended to describe the practices Zoom Communications, Inc. (“Zoom”) follows for the Zoom Solopreneur 50 (ZSP50) recognition program (the "ZSP50 Program"), with respect to the privacy of all individuals whose personal data is collected, processed and stored in the systems, platforms and technologies used to deliver the ZSP50 Program. The ZSP50 Program involves nomination submissions, jury evaluation, selection of nominees, media promotions, recognition events, and ongoing alumni engagement activities.
This Privacy Statement applies exclusively to U.S. residents participating in the ZSP50 Program. The program is open only to solopreneurs operating primarily within the United States. Other Zoom privacy notices and terms continue to govern your use of Zoom products and services outside the ZSP50 Program.
- Eligibility and Age Requirements
The ZSP50 Program is intended exclusively for individuals who are 18 years of age or older. No one under age 18 may participate in the ZSP50 Program, submit nominations or applications, or provide any personal data through program forms or materials. We do not knowingly collect personal data from individuals under 18. If you are under 18, do not participate in the ZSP50 Program or provide any information including your name, address, telephone number, email address, business information, or any other identifying information. If we learn we have collected or received personal data from an individual under 18, we will delete that information promptly. If you believe we might have any information from an individual under 18, please contact us at privacy-ZSP50@zoom.com.
- What type of personal data is processed?
Personal data that is processed as part of the ZSP50 Program is used primarily to support the ZSP50’s nomination, judging, interview, recognition, marketing and promotional activities and alumni engagement phases.
Personal data is sourced from: nomination forms, application forms, nominators, nominees/applicants, Zoom personnel, judges, and verification sources.
- Nominees/Applicants
Personal data processed includes contact information (name, email, phone number, city/state), business information (business name, year founded, business category, website/portfolio links, social media handles), and narrative responses about business motivation, originality, success metrics, and community impact.
Nominees may provide information through third-party authentication services. We may collect social media profile information to facilitate program recognition and engagement.
Zoom may seek information about a nominee or their business to confirm or supplement information contained within their submission ("Background Checks"). Background Checks may include information from publicly available sources such as social media, business registrations, or other public records.
Nominees selected as finalists may be required to provide additional information including video introductions, headshot photos, biographical information, and verification documents (such as tax returns or accountant letters).
- Nominators (when applicable)
Personal data processed includes nominator name, contact details (email, organization affiliation), and information about their relationship to the nominee.
- Judges and Zoom Personnel
Personal data processed includes name, contact details (email, phone number), photograph, biography, and company information as appropriate for program administration and judging activities.

- Sensitive personal data
Sensitive personal data includes information revealing racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious or philosophical beliefs, genetic data, biometric data, health data, or data concerning sex life or sexual orientation.
Zoom may collect sensitive personal data on a voluntary basis for diversity analysis purposes. This information will be used solely to conduct aggregated and de-identified analysis of the diversity of composition of the ZSP50 Program participants.
Free text fields should not be populated with excessive personal data (including sensitive personal data) or confidential business information.
- Use of Collected Data
Program Administration
Evaluation and selection of nominees by the ZSP50 Program jury. Data is used for program administration, judging, and publicity.
Marketing and Promotional Activities
Marketing and promotional activities including:
- Marketing events and Zoom's digital platforms.
- Presentations and speaking engagements.
- Video content featuring nominees.
- Ongoing communications related to the program and related Zoom initiatives.
Nominees' stories and achievements may be highlighted with permissions granted during nomination/application. Zoom retains broad rights to use nominees stories and images for marketing and promotional purposes, with nominees having opportunities to review content before publication.
- Communications and Engagement
The program aims to maintain a long-term, trust-based relationship with applicants and nominators by sending targeted and value-driven communications related to the solopreneur ecosystem. Data will not be used for unrelated marketing, mass advertising, or sold to third parties.
- Who can access your personal data?
Zoom will not transfer your personal data to third parties (other than those parties specifically contracted to support the ZSP50 Program) unless we have your permission or are required by law to do so. We will only disclose your personal data to third parties that have agreed in writing to provide an adequate level of privacy protection.
Your personal data may be accessed by the following parties in connection with the ZSP50 Program:

Personal data may be transferred to various jurisdictions where Zoom operates. Zoom will process your personal data in accordance with applicable U.S. privacy laws and this Privacy Statement.
- Data retention
Our policy is to retain personal data only for as long as it is needed for the purposes described in this Privacy Statement. Retention periods are set in accordance with applicable legal and business requirements.
Personal data will be retained as follows:
- Contact information and program participation records will be retained for the duration of the program relationship and ongoing alumni network activities;
- Submission materials and evaluation records will be retained for program administration purposes;
- After active retention periods, data will be securely deleted or anonymized unless legal or business requirements necessitate longer retention.
- Security
Zoom protects the confidentiality and security of information obtained through the ZSP50 Program. Access to information is limited, and policies and procedures are in place designed to safeguard information from loss, misuse and improper disclosure. We use access controls, logging, and audit mechanisms to protect program data in line with Zoom's broader security and compliance programs.
- Privacy Rights and Choices
You can confirm your personal data is accurate and current. You can object to the processing of your personal data or request rectification, erasure, or a portable copy of your personal data by contacting us using the information provided in Section 13. Furthermore, you can request details of your personal data processed in connection with the ZSP50 Program. To access your personal data or withdraw your consent (where applicable), contact us using the information in Section 13.
- California & Other U.S. State Privacy Rights
Under some U.S. state laws, including the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 (as amended by the California Consumer Privacy Rights Act) (CCPA), residents may have rights to:
- Access the categories and specific pieces of personal data Zoom has collected for the ZSP50 Program, the categories of sources from which the personal data is collected, the purposes for collecting the personal data, and the categories of third parties with whom Zoom has shared personal data, and obtain the personal data in a portable and, to the extent technically feasible, readily usable format;
- Delete personal data under certain circumstances;
- Correct personal data under certain circumstances; and
- Opt out of the "sale" of personal data or "sharing" of personal data for targeted advertising purposes. Zoom does not sell or share personal data collected through the ZSP50 Program for targeted advertising purposes. The ZSP50 Program does not use advertising and analytics services for targeted or interest-based advertising. Personal data collected through the program is used solely for program administration, judging, recognition activities, and alumni engagement as described in this Privacy Statement. Zoom does not have actual knowledge that it "sells" or "shares" the personal information of consumers under 16 years of age.
- Appeal a denial of your request. Some states provide additional rights to their residents. If we decline to process your request, you may have the right to appeal our decision. You can do so by replying directly to our denial or emailing privacy-ZSP50@zoom.com.
Zoom will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights, which is further in line with your rights under state law.
Sensitive Information
Zoom may receive information through the ZSP50 Program that may be considered sensitive under some state laws, if you choose to provide such information. Zoom processes sensitive personal information to administer the ZSP50 Program, conduct diversity analysis in aggregated and de-identified form, facilitate program recognition and alumni engagement, for authentication, integrity, security, and safety reasons, to communicate with you, for legal reasons, and with your consent. Zoom does not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes of inferring characteristics about a consumer, or in any way that would require Zoom to provide a right to limit under the CCPA. Under certain laws, residents may also be permitted to opt out of certain profiling relating to automated processing analyzing certain categories of an individual's information that would produce a legal or similarly significant effect. Zoom does not engage in this type of profiling of ZSP50 Program participants.
Exercising Your Rights
To exercise your rights under applicable state privacy laws, please contact us at privacy-ZSP50@zoom.com. California residents may also use Zoom's general privacy request mechanisms available at https://www.zoom.com/en/trust/privacy/privacy-statement/.
We will acknowledge receipt of your request within 10 business days, and provide a substantive response within 45 calendar days, or inform you of the reason and extension period (up to a total of 90 days) in writing.
These rights are not absolute, are subject to exceptions and limitations, and may not be afforded to residents of all states. In certain cases, we may decline requests to exercise these rights where permitted by law. We will need to verify your identity to process your access, deletion, and correction requests and reserve the right to confirm your state residency. To verify your identity, we may require you to provide information such as your email address, phone number, and details about your participation in the ZSP50 Program. We will verify your request by comparing the information you provide to information already in our possession. You may designate an authorized agent to submit your verified consumer request by providing written permission and verifying your identity, or through proof of power of attorney.
California's Shine the Light Law
Under California's Shine the Light law, you may also ask companies with whom you have formed a business relationship primarily for personal, family or household purposes to provide the names of third parties to which they have disclosed certain personal information (as defined under the Shine the Light law) during the preceding calendar year for their own direct marketing purposes and the categories of personal information disclosed. You may send us requests for this information to privacy-ZSP50@zoom.com. In your request, you must include the statement "Shine the Light Request," and provide your first and last name and mailing address and certify that you are a California resident. We reserve the right to require additional information to confirm your identity and California residency. Please note that we will not accept requests via telephone, mail, or facsimile, and we are not responsible for notices that are not labeled or sent properly, or that do not have complete information.
- Changes to This Privacy Statement
We may update this Privacy Statement periodically to account for changes in our collection and/or processing of personal data, and will post the updated Privacy Statement with a "Last Updated" date at the top. If we make material changes to this Privacy Statement, we will notify program participants and provide you an opportunity to review the changes.
