If your digital work is scattered across several applications, it can be hard to feel productive at the end of the day. With the Custom AI Companion add-on, you can call on your organization-specific knowledge with AI Companion, get more relevant meeting summaries, and speed up your business processes by building custom agents or connecting AI Companion directly to compatible third-party apps.
Let’s explore some of the ways you can customize AI Companion.
With Custom AI Companion, you can tailor AI to your organization’s unique workflows by creating custom agents. These agents let you automate routine tasks, surface the right information, and interact with your team’s tools and knowledge bases. Custom agents are armed with your organization's data, from both third-party apps and tools that you use to organizational documents housed in your data collections. You can connect agents to your knowledge in a variety of ways:
MCP (Model Context Protocol): Push and pull data with apps like Asana, Linear, Confluence, Jira, and Box, or add your own API connections to streamline work and surface relevant insights (expected September 2025).
A2A (Agent2Agent integrations): Enable AI agents, starting with ServiceNow AI Agents, to communicate directly and complete tasks without leaving Zoom. (expected December 2025)
Tools: Leverage Zoom's built-in tools or build custom connections with third-party apps so AI Companion can execute custom workflows and automations across systems.
Knowledge collections: Bring organization-specific knowledge into AI Companion, including SharePoint and ServiceNow, so responses are context-rich and up to date (expected September 2025).
Create your own custom agents and connect them to your sources.
No two organizations are alike, and AI Companion is here to match the flexibility that you need. At the core of our Custom AI Companion add-on is Zoom AI Studio, a portal where admins can tailor how Zoom AI Companion supports your organization. It’s a low-code, drag-and-drop builder that gives you the opportunity to customize how AI Companion works for you. Let’s explore how you can expand AI Companion’s knowledge, skills, and more.
By creating knowledge collections within Zoom AI Studio, you can tailor AI Companion responses based on your own company data housed in these collections. With connectors for SharePoint and ServiceNow available for knowledge collections, responses to queries can be made even more relevant and context-rich. You can interact directly with ServiceNow knowledge bases to get answers faster, all set up and managed for you by your admin in Zoom AI Studio (expected September 2025).
You can also connect AI Companion to 15 third-party apps, including Salesforce, Asana, and Box, for easier task completion in Zoom Workplace. For example, during a meeting, you can use AI Companion to proactively retrieve and surface information, like Jira tickets, so you can quickly create, access, or update them without leaving the conversation. This not only saves you the time and hassle of switching back and forth between multiple apps, but also helps you stay focused on the real-life person you’re talking to and working with. After the conversation ends, you can rely on workflow automations to take action for you.
With the Custom AI Companion add-on, you can connect to third-party indexing services like Amazon Q and Glean, connecting it to information stored in those services. For instance, you can connect AI Companion to your organization’s HR policies so employees can quickly get answers to their questions about them.
Whether you want to connect Zoom Workplace to your CRM (Salesforce), project management (Asana, Coda, Notion), issue management (Asana, Jira, Zendesk), or cloud storage (OneDrive, Google Drive, Box), there are plenty of ways to simplify your workflows. Connect AI Companion to third-party tools so you have the information you need at your fingertips.
With the Custom AI Companion add-on, you can add terms to a custom dictionary so that AI Companion is more fluent in your desired industry- or company-specific terminology. This can be useful for giving context to internal acronyms, terms, or even complicated vocabularies like the ones used in specialized industries. With this extra knowledge, AI Companion will be able to create more accurate transcriptions and a more precise meeting summary.
But it’s about more than what you put into AI Companion. You can also get customized outputs, such as custom meeting summaries, including summary templates customized to your organization’s needs. Based on the type of meeting you’re having, you can choose the best template for AI Companion to use for your meeting summary. If you’ve given AI Companion your custom terminology, acronyms, and more, it can incorporate them directly into your summaries.
Admins can create custom meeting summary templates in Zoom AI Studio.
What’s more, everyone in your organization with access to AI Companion can use ready-made summary templates for common meeting types, such as one-on-ones, stand-ups, brainstorms, and more. If you have the Custom AI Companion add-on, admins will be able to create custom meeting summary templates directly in Zoom AI Studio.
No two teams work the same way, and Custom AI Companion can adapt to each role’s unique challenges. From IT to Finance, it can help teams accomplish their goals, no matter their roles.
IT leaders can streamline incident response by connecting AI Companion to tools like Amazon Q, automatically surfacing the right data in the moment. They can also build meeting templates that capture next steps and generate post-mortem reports, removing hours of manual work.
Sales teams can focus on building customer relationships instead of chasing admin tasks. Custom AI agents can update CRM records in Salesforce or HubSpot, while AI can draft personalized follow-up emails based on meeting notes, helping reps move deals forward faster.
Marketing teams can accelerate campaign production with custom avatars that deliver consistent, professional content in multiple languages. They can also repurpose existing materials into dynamic video clips, giving them fresh ways to reach global audiences.
Customer service teams can improve case resolution by creating knowledge agents that surface relevant guides in real time. When an unfamiliar issue comes up, AI Companion can draft a response that teams can refine and send with confidence.
HR teams can streamline onboarding by setting up meeting templates that automatically share policies, training resources, and FAQs with new hires. They can also use AI summaries to keep track of engagement across sessions, helping to ensure that employees get the support they need.
Finance teams can reduce repetitive reporting by creating agents that consolidate data from different systems into shareable updates. They can also use AI Companion to draft executive summaries from custom meeting summary templates, freeing up more time for analysis and strategic planning.
Zoom Workplace remains the open platform where your best work happens. With our new Custom AI Companion add-on, it’s an even more flexible platform where you get to work how you want.
