Over the last decade, podcasts have gone from a niche form of media to a nearly ubiquitous art form. Amidst the podcast boom, Zoom has become a trusted podcasting solution with our host of audio and recording capabilities, reliable VoIP, and high-quality video.
Hear from some podcaster Zoomies on how Zoom can elevate your podcast!
“I co-host the show ‘Bean Stuff’ with my dad. When I moved to a new town, and we could no longer work on the show in the same place, Zoom became the no-brainer tool for recording and post-production needs. Original Sound gives you the best audio quality possible. Zoom is also great for having guests on the show since most people have used it at least once at this point.”
-- Reed Allen, Product Manager, Co-Host of “Bean Stuff”
Pro tip: Original Sound has three main components – high-fidelity music mode, echo cancellation, and stereo audio. Configuring Original Sound with high-fidelity music and stereo audio is a best practice if you’re recording in a studio-like setting. You should disable echo cancellation if you have a studio-like environment, use a vocal microphone or good pair of headphones, or play a musical instrument.
“Recording separate audio files for each participant is an incredibly helpful Zoom feature for podcasting. Often you’ll want to do sound editing, adjusting, and leveling on one person and not the entire mixed recording — recording separate audio files makes that much easier.”
-- Stephen Newton, Lead Product Manager, Host of “Black Ink Red Film”
Pro tip: You can enable the separate audio files for each participant feature for local and cloud recordings. When recording locally, enable the feature from your desktop client settings under Recording > Local Recording > Record a separate audio file for each participant. When recording to the cloud, enable this setting under Settings > Recording > Cloud Recording > Record audio-only files > Record a separate audio file for each participant.
“I love that Zoom generates a transcript of your meetings and webinars when you record to the cloud. The transcript is a great resource to have for show notes and can even be used for repurposing quotes for show promotion.”
-- Ronnie Dickerson Stewart, DEI Lead, Marketplace & Community, Host of “The Career Clinic Podcast”
Pro tip: To enable automated audio transcripts for your meetings and webinars, go into the Zoom web portal under Settings > Recording > Advanced cloud recording settings. (Note: Audio transcripts are only available for Business, Education, and Enterprise accounts.)
