As a provider of in-home healthcare services, BAYADA Home Health Care comprises 29,000 employees distributed around the world in more than 380 offices and eight countries. Acting as the intermediary between hospitals and physicians, BAYADA’s clients depend on them to manage their health care in the comfort of their homes, making it imperative for employees to be able to communicate easily and stay connected with one another. With a flex work policy that includes remote and in-office employees, this can be especially challenging. 

 

But with the help of Zoom and Yealink, BAYADA’s video collaboration and telehealth team – led by Dennis Vallone – was able to transform its campuses into immersive, engaging workspaces that keep teams and clients connected, and motivate employees to return to the office.  

BAYADA augments collaboration with Zoom Rooms and Yealink

An early adopter of Zoom Meetings, BAYADA began using Zoom Rooms systems in 2014 on its campuses. Combining Zoom software with certified hardware, Zoom Rooms are modern, remote-friendly conference spaces that enable BAYADA employees to collaborate with the touch of a button.

 

After trying a few videoconferencing and meeting bar devices that were either too pricey or lacked the features employees wanted, BAYADA discovered Yealink as one of Zoom’s strategic hardware partners and found the ideal solution to fit its needs.

 

“Yealink solves so many problems for us that we’ve had in the past with other equipment. The products are more intuitive, so we’re not having to answer as many support calls as we used to,” Dennis said. 

 

All told BAYADA has more than 130 Zoom Rooms systems (with around 50 featuring Yealink’s MeetingBar A20 and MeetingBar A30) spread among their global support center and dozens of remote offices throughout the United States. According to Dennis, ease of use is the biggest reason employees were eager to adopt the technology.

Hybrid workspace reservations made easy

As employees began returning to the office, BAYADA enabled Zoom’s Workspace Reservation tool to simplify the process of finding and reserving a physical workstation. With the help of a 3D modeling program, BAYADA designed a full replica of its main campus for employees to choose where they’ll be working. 

 

“We have 85 reservable spaces, a beautiful map layout, and a Zoom Kiosk set up in our lobby for people to book a desk, reservation, or conference room,” said Stefan Scherbik, BAYADA Senior Associate, Video, Collaboration, and Telehealth (VCT).

Once a space becomes available, employees receive an email that their reservation is ready – just one of the features Stefan enjoys. 

BAYADA increases employee engagement with Zoom Team Chat

With a hybrid work environment, it can be hard to keep employees engaged. But with Zoom Team Chat, BAYADA team members share files, send gifs, and have casual chat conversations that streamline communication. When the organization first began using a chat solution a decade before, employees sent roughly 100 chats per week. Today, BAYADA employees send close to 150,000 chats per week with Team Chat, reflecting higher engagement and a preference for communicating via chat tools.

Virtual meetings enable better patient care and relationship-building opportunities

Dennis believes the biggest impact Zoom provides is the improved engagement between their employees and clients. To monitor patients remotely, BAYADA’s clients are given biometric devices and tablets powered by Zoom video SDK that enable them to connect with clinicians for regular virtual check-ins around their health. 

 

“With Zoom Meetings, we can check in more often to discuss our clients’ biometric readings, and monitor their blood pressure and oxygen levels,” Dennis said. “For our remote patient monitoring and virtual care patients especially, we’re able to get eyes on the client more often and build better relationships and connections with people.”

Flexible technology is key to a happy, hybrid workplace

Today, BAYADA employees enjoy access to user-friendly meeting spaces, modern conference rooms, flexible workspaces, and technology that delivers an engaging experience, something they can’t necessarily get at home. After replacing many of the desks with couches and creating more open, casual meeting areas outfitted with Zoom Rooms systems, Dennis believes this is what’s needed in order to encourage more employees to return to a physical workplace. 

 

“You’ve got to give people a reason to come to campus,” he said. “We’re seeing a lot more people come in because they like the new Zoom Rooms we’ve configured. We’re giving them the best technology and immersive experiences that make even remote viewers feel like they’re part of a meeting,” Dennis said.
