Zoom formally launched our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) program in the summer of 2020. It was important to take an honest look at our organization and all the ways we could drive meaningful change internally and externally.
The fact that the program launched at the intersection of a global pandemic as well as widespread social and cultural unrest made such an undertaking all the more relevant — and urgent. Additionally, Zoom experienced massive growth over the past two years, growing from just over 2,000 employees to almost 7,000 today. Our company identity evolved as our hiring accelerated.
It was imperative to focus on empowering employees to be their authentic selves, further building accessibility and inclusivity into our products, and restructuring internal systems, processes, and policies to be more equitable.
Through all of this work, we were able to clarify our DEI approach and priorities for Zoom in the context of today’s pressing global challenges and longstanding systemic barriers to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Zoom's entire platform is designed to bring people together, and people remain at the center of our DEI efforts.
