If your digital work is scattered across several applications, it can be hard to feel productive at the end of the day. With our new Custom AI Companion add-on, you’ll be able to call on your organization-specific knowledge with AI Companion, get more relevant meeting summaries, and speed up your business processes by connecting third-party apps.
Let’s explore some of the ways you’ll be able to customize AI Companion.
No two organizations are alike, and AI Companion is here to match the flexibility that you need. At the core of our Custom AI Companion add-on is Zoom AI Studio, a portal where admins can adjust how Zoom AI Companion supports your organization. It’s a low-code, drag-and-drop builder that gives you the opportunity to customize how AI Companion works for you. Let’s explore how you’ll be able to expand AI Companion’s knowledge, AI skills, and more.
You’ll be able to connect a series of third-party apps to Zoom Workplace. For example, during a meeting, you can quickly create, access, or update Jira tickets directly through AI Companion. This will not only save you the time and hassle of switching back and forth between apps, but it frees you up to better focus on the real-life person you’re talking to and working with. It also can be connected to third-party indexing services like Amazon Q and Glean*, making AI Companion aware of information stored in those services. For instance, you could make AI Companion aware of your organization’s HR policies so employees could quickly ask about them.
Connect AI Companion to third-party tools so you have the information you need at your fingertips.
With the Custom AI Companion add-on, you can add terms to custom dictionaries so that AI Companion is more fluent in your desired industry- or company-specific terminology. This can be useful for giving context to internal acronyms, terms, or even complicated vocabularies like the ones used in specialized industries. With this extra knowledge, AI Companion will be able to create more accurate transcriptions and a more precise meeting summary.
But it’s about more than what you input into AI Companion. You can also get customized outputs, such as custom meeting summaries, including summary templates customized to your organization’s needs. Based on the type of meeting you’re having, you can choose the best template for AI Companion to use for your meeting summary. If you’ve given AI Companion your custom terminology, acronyms, and more, it will incorporate all of that directly into your summaries.
Admins can create custom meeting summary templates in Zoom AI Studio.
What’s more, everyone with access to AI Companion can use ready-made summary templates for common meeting types, such as one-on-ones, stand-ups, brainstorms, and more. If you have the Custom AI Companion add-on, admins will be able to create custom meeting summary templates directly in Zoom AI Studio.
Zoom Workplace is an open platform because we know that everyone has different workflows and preferences for how they get their work done. So whether you need information from a different platform or need to jump on a meeting with someone outside Zoom Workplace, you can now bring Zoom AI Companion along for the ride.
For example, let’s say you’re on a call with clients using a different meeting platform but still want to create a meeting summary or transcript. Now, you’ll be able to add AI Companion to Microsoft Teams and Google Meet meetings as if it were another participant, and everyone will be made aware that it’s transcribing the meeting. After the meeting, the meeting summary will be available along with your other Zoom meeting summaries.
And coming soon†, you’ll be able to create custom agents to handle your organization's unique needs. Using Zoom AI Studio, you can easily create these agents with specific skill sets that will work with AI Companion to complete organization-specific tasks or automate a business process that’s an important part of your workflow.
Because the modern workforce is often distributed around the world, it can be a challenge to communicate effectively to a global audience—sometimes even within your own organization.
As a way to get one step closer to your audience, you can make a custom avatar in Zoom Clips. After you record a source video of yourself, you’ll be able to generate clips with an avatar that looks and sounds like you. These clips can be generated based on a script you provide, even if you’ve translated that script into a language you don’t speak. This can provide an easy way to share training modules, company-wide announcements, or other communications in different languages. There are even built-in safeguards to help protect against misuse and support the integrity of AI-generated content. As a tip, when you’re recording your source video, make sure to give AI Companion a good range of tones and inflections to work with!
With all of these improvements to how AI Companion can help us communicate, it’s still good to work on yourself and your skills. Use AI Companion as your personal AI coach to gauge and give you feedback on your meeting presence, communication skills, meeting efficiency, and more. We expect to launch the personal AI coach feature in June 2025.
Zoom Workplace remains the open platform where your best work happens. With our new Custom AI Companion add-on, it’s an even more flexible platform where you get to work how you want.
