IT Issue Tracker
🛠️ How to Use the IT Issue Tracker Template
This template is designed to help IT teams systematically log, prioritize, and resolve technical issues across the organization. Here’s how to use it:
1. Log a New Issue
When someone reports an IT issue (e.g., VPN failure, software bug, hardware malfunction), create a new row:
Assign a unique Issue ID (e.g., IT-004)
Add a clear Title describing the problem
Select the Category (Network, Access, Hardware, etc.)
Set a Priority level (🔴 Urgent, 🟡 High, 🟢 Normal)
2. Assign Ownership
Fill in Requester (who reported it) and Assigned To (who’s fixing it)
Add Reported Date (when it was logged)
Optionally define a Target Resolution Date to align expectations
3. Track Progress
Use the Status column to track current state: Open → In Progress → Resolved
Keep a log in Steps Taken for transparency and future reference
Add a brief Resolution Summary once the issue is resolved
4. Attach Evidence or Logs
Use the Attachments column to link:
Screenshots
Logs
Photos of hardware, etc.
5. Filter & Review
Use filters by Category or Priority to triage urgent issues
Conduct regular reviews to ensure nothing gets stuck in “In Progress” or “Blocked”
