How to Use

1. Write the user problem or insight you're starting from in the problem statement zone using the Text tool — be specific; vague problems create vague HMWs
2. Give participants 5–7 minutes to write HMW questions as individual sticky notes using the Quick Actions widget — one question per note, starting each with "How might we..."
3. After the timer, read questions aloud and cluster related ones by dragging them together
4. Run dot voting from the facilitation toolbar — participants vote on the questions with the best creative potential
5. Take the top-voted HMW questions into an ideation session and use them to generate solution concepts

Benefits

The HMW technique works because it changes the frame from "here's the problem" to "here's an invitation." Teams that start with good HMW questions consistently generate more creative and more targeted solutions.
