ZoomAir Product Drivers

THE INFORMATION AND FILES BELOW ARE FOR THE ZOOMAIR 2mbps PRODUCT(S) ONLY. THESE WILL NOT WORK WITH THE ZOOMAIR 11mbps PRODUCT(S)

Introducing v2.51

Released on April 13, 2000, v2.51 is the latest 2mbps ZoomAir driver. Enhancements include:

  • 32K of contiguous upper memory is no longer needed, thus eliminating potential conflict with other installed devices requiring the use of the upper memory area.
  • For Windows 95, 98, and NT, an improved installation wizard prompts user defaults and configures network protocols automatically.
  • For users with a non-English Windows operating system, previous installation difficulties have been eliminated.
  • "Uninstall" is now more streamlined; there is no longer a need to remove adapters manually. See attached instructions.
  • Windows 2000-compatible *.sys driver and *.inf beta files are now available as an additional download selection on this Web site.

    NOTE: The 2mbps ZoomAir product is not fully supported under the Windows_2000 OS. Only partial Client support is available (no Client Manager S/W) and NO Access_Point support is available. Zoom will not be providing full support for the ZoomAir 2mbps product under Windows_2000.

Carried over from v2.32:

  • An installation answer file lets you automate larger installs and ensures consistency.
  • The configuration utility has tab selections for Link Information, Server, Encryption, and Firmware/Software versions.
  • Link Status is clearly defined with both transmit and receive throughput information; in Infrastructure mode, graphic representation shows both Link Quality and Signal Strength.
  • In AdHoc mode (peer-to-peer set-ups), the first computer turned on establishes the radio beacon sender; there is no longer a need to pre-assign a specific computer.
  • A "Rescan" button reinitializes the drivers when new settings are selected, thus saving a complete system reboot.
  • On-line help text is included for quick reference.

Disk 1  Disk 2 (.exe file) Two floppy diskettes are required. Once saved to your hard disk, each file will self extract onto these two floppy diskettes. Label the first as "ZoomAir Client Driver v2.51 - Disk 1". Label the second as "ZoomAir Client Driver v2.51 - Disk 2".
Follow the attached instructions for installing.

Available for Downloading: New! ZoomAir 2mbps Access Point Driver v2.51
Disk 1  Disk 2 (.exe file) Before installing this driver set, be sure to save/protect your "ZoomAir.key" file. You can do this in two ways. The first is to place on a clean floppy disk the "ZoomAir.key" file for reloading after upgrading. The second is to first remove the supplied "ZoomAir.key" file from Disk 1 of this latest version, thus eliminating the chance of overwriting this enabling file. We recommend extra caution by doing both.

For creating this new set, two floppy diskettes are required. Once saved to your hard disk, each file will self extract onto these two floppy diskettes. Label the first as "ZoomAir Access Point Driver v2.51 - Disk 1". Label the second as "ZoomAir Access Point Driver v2.51 - Disk 2".
Follow the procedure as outlined in the attached instructions. Finally, reload your "ZoomAir.key" file.

Available for Downloading: New! ZoomAir V2.50 Client Support for Windows 2000 (.exe)
(Note: These are BETA files and not fully supported. There is NO Client Manager Software available for Windows_2000 and Zoom will not be developing further software releases for this product)

One floppy diskette is required. Label this floppy "ZoomAir v2.50 Client Support for Windows 2000". Click here to download the necessary "*.SYS" and "*.INF" files.
Follow the attached instructions for installing. Following the steps outlined will allow any Windows 2000 machine to act as a ZoomAir Client configured for either AdHoc or Infrastructure mode.

Repair Driver For v2.29 Under NT (.sys file) This downloadable file is a "repaired" driver file for the Access_Point for NT under v2.29. It is not required under v2.30e. This same driver also works with an NT Client.

When a machine was connected to a large network, the NT Event Viewer would continually display a number of errors regarding the NDCAPDRV.SYS. The machine may run for seconds or hours before hanging. The NDCAPDRV.SYS driver essentially can't handle a large number of broadcast packets. This new driver fixes the problem. Copy the file (NDCAPDRV.SYS) into the \winnt\system32\drivers folder and restart the machine.
