Zoom/MultiLine Family Now Includes 33.6 Kbps Voice Faxmodems
8-line unit now comes with
8 serial cables and RS-232C adapters for DB-9 or RJ-45 connectors
Boston, MA, July 25, 1997 - Zoom Telephonics, a leading
manufacturer of faxmodems and other wide area network PC communication
products, announced today that the Zoom/MultiLine FaxModem
family now includes V.34 33.6 Kbps voice faxmodems.
The MultiLine provides up to eight faxmodem modules in a single,
compact (2" x 8" x 11") desktop case. Each
independent, hot-swappable voice/faxmodem module has an associated
RS-232C connector on the back of the case, and a reset button
and 3 status lights on the front of the case. Each
MultiLine module is a Rockwell®-based serial faxmodem
that includes Class 1 and 2 fax, Caller ID, V.42, V.42bis,
MNP® 2-5, MNP 10EC and NVRAM. Each module also includes
Configuration Control and Security Lock, which allow systems
administrators to lock in the functions and settings they
want. MultiLine modules feature Flash memory to facilitate
firmware upgrades, and advanced ZoomGuard to prevent damage
from lightning, the primary cause of modem failure. Independent
lab tests prove that ZoomGuard is superior to the lightning
protection offered by other modem manufacturers. The
single power supply included with each MultiLine eliminates
the need for eight separate supplies and multiple power strips,
which minimizes power cord clutter and simplifies installation.
The Zoom/MultiLine is designed for power efficiency and requires
only 25W of power with all eight modules active. "The
MultiLine also now includes jumper settings for WindowsNT
RAS compatibility," explained Terry Manning, Zoom's Vice
President of Sales and Marketing. "It is ideal for modem
pools, faxservers, voice mail systems, and remote access servers,"
he said. The MultiLine is being sold primarily through
value-added resellers and dealers. The MSRP (Manufacturer's
Suggested Retail Price) for the MultiLine with 8 V.34 33.6
Kbps voice/faxmodem modules (Model 7112) is $1399. The 4-unit
model's (Model 7113) MSRP is $1049 and an individual module
(Model 7114) is $139. Additional product information
