| Zoom Begins Shipment
of New DualCam Camera Family Boston,
MA, June 26, 2003 — Zoom Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ:
ZOOM)
is now shipping the first two members of its DualCam family
of affordable cameras. The DualCam 300 and DualCam 1300, are
pocket-sized digital cameras that serve double duty as PC
video cameras. A Zoom DualCam can be used at a PC as a video
camera and webcam, or a DualCam can be unplugged and used
anywhere. A DualCam's built-in memory stores hundreds
of snapshot pictures, or 15 seconds or more of streaming video.
Plug the DualCam into a PC's USB port to download all the
camera's images in seconds using bundled ArcSoft Software
Suite software. Each camera provides VGA color images
for full-screen display. The DualCam 300 uses a 352 x 288
color CMOS sensor and software interpolation to achieve 640
X 480 VGA resolution. The DualCam 1300 uses a 640 x 480 color
CMOS sensor and interpolation software to provide resolution
of up to 1.3 megapixels.. Each DualCam comes complete
with a pan-and-tilt tripod, USB cable, wrist strap, batteries,
a user manual, and software. Arcsoft Software Suite software
includes PhotoImpressiontm, VideoImpressiontm, and FunHousetm
for photo and video editing, special effects, and more. The
software makes it easy and fun to make trading cards, posters,
greeting cards, calendars, and other creative projects.
"A DualCam is a camera every family should have",
said Terry Manning, Vice President of Sales and Marketing
for Zoom. "Everyone wants digital pictures of their family
and friends having fun, but no one wants to risk an expensive
camera around water or in a rough environment. An inexpensive
DualCam is great as a family Web camera, and even better as
a detachable still shot camera." Each DualCam
features auto-exposure, auto-focus, auto-white balance, last
photo erase, and LCD display of the number of photos taken
and battery status. An automatic power-off setting maximizes
battery life. When used as a Webcam, the DualCam 1300
delivers continuous live video to a PC with the choice of
up to 30 frames per second at 320 X 240 resolution or 10 frames
per second at 640 X 480 resolution. The DualCam 300 provides
video to a PC with a choice of up to 30 frames per second
at 160 X 120 resolution or 10 frames per second at 352 X 288
resolution. The Zoom DualCam 300 (Model 1540) has
an estimated retail price of $29.99 in U.S. retail outlets,
and the higher-resolution Zoom DualCam 1300 (Model 1599) has
an estimated U.S. retail price of $39.99. For additional
